Drawing the young and talented to a world of opportunities

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, May 7, 2018 - In precipitating the country’s digital transformation, ABB in Malaysia participated in a national career fair organized by the Malaysian Investment and Development Authority (MIDA) to provide fresh graduates and job seekers with exciting opportunities to shape the future.

Held recently at the Putra World Trade Center in Kuala Lumpur, the career fair drew overwhelming response with the participation of around 100 corporations particularly in the manufacturing and services sectors as well as government linked companies (GLCs). More than 4,000 visitors attended the event which is the biggest organized by MIDA to-date.

“Job skills are changing rapidly as automation advances across almost every area of industry. There is a need to rethink what’s relevant in a changing landscape which is being driven by the disruptive rise of new technologies,” said Clara Ooi, Country Human Resource Manager, ABB Malaysia Sdn Bhd.

“As Malaysia primes itself for an innovation-led and productivity-driven transformation, we are proud to be able to play a role in this development by nurturing talents and creating high value-add jobs to harness the full potential of a new digital era. With a history spanning more than 130 years, innovation is in our DNA,” she added.

ABB’s booth was the focus of fresh graduates at the event. Interests and inquiries were largely centered on latest trends and technologies as well as the South Asia Graduate Engineer Program which has been relaunched recently. Talented graduates in Malaysia may apply to be considered for the program which offers successful candidates with immense exposure to a wide range of engineering disciplines. Complete details are available on the ‘Careers’ page under the listing of job postings.

“There is immense curiosity and thirst for knowledge amongst visitors at the event. I’m thrilled at the prospect of drawing promising fresh graduates under the program to help them explore an exciting start of international career with us,” Clara concluded.
