ABB unveils new SACE FORMULA circuit-breakers in Malaysia

March 15 – ABB, the leading power and automation technology group has launched the new SACE FORMULA family of moulded-case circuit-breakers for the Malaysian market today.

The highly versatile range of low voltage circuit-breakers was unveiled by Sim Boon Kiat, ABB South Asia Region Manager and Country Manager of ABB Malaysia at the Sepang International Karting Circuit, Selangor, Malaysia.

“We are excited about the enormous potential of the new SACE FORMULA family which embodies the ultimate expression of the Italian heritage and experience of ABB’s SACE products. The SACE FORMULA moulded-case circuit-breakers combine quality, reliability and all-round simplicity that includes easy installation, sizing and fitting with accessories. It is simple and functional yet extremely versatile,” he said.

Circuit-breakers are essentially designed to protect the electrical circuit from damage caused by current overload or short-circuit. They act as an important safety mechanism in homes, commercial buildings or even large industrial application. When electrical current which flows through the wiring in a building exceeds a safe limit, the circuit-breaker is tripped preventing potential fire, equipment failure or other damages. Once tripped, the switch simply turns off until it is reset.

In this regard, the SACE FORMULA is a culmination of more than 70 years of experience that ABB has in designing and manufacturing innovative moulded-case and air circuit-breakers. A forerunner in the industry with a technical know-how recognised worldwide, ABB is guided by its core principles of innovation, technology and quality. These elements are evident in the SACE FORMULA circuit-breakers which are suitable for a wide range of application in residential and commercial buildings in Malaysia.

The property market’s buoyant recovery and positive outlook in 2010 will augur well for the SACE FORMULA range which is expected to fuel more than 40% growth for ABB Malaysia’s Low Voltage Products division. The SACE FORMULA will enable ABB to achieve full scale penetration into Malaysia’s circuit-breakers market, providing an impetus for the Company’s long term competitiveness.

“Customers that we’ve spoken to are looking at two things -- quality products and price competitiveness. With the new SACE FORMULA, we are able to offer a rich collaboration of ABB’s innovative products at competitive prices to help our customers address vital issues in today’s challenging business climate,” he added.

The new SACE FORMULA moulded-case circuit-breakers and their accessories are constructed in conformity with :

    Standards:
      - IEC 60947-2;
    Directives:
      - EG directive : “Low Voltage Directives” (LVD) no. 2006/95/CE (in replacement of 73/23/CEE and subsequent amendments);
      - EC directive : “Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive” (EMC) no. 89/336 EEC.

Certification of conformity with the product Standards is carried out in the ABB test room (accredited by SINAL – certificate No. 062/1997-) in respect of the EN 45011 European Standard, by the Italian certification body ACAE (Association for Certification of Electrical Apparatus), member of the European LOVAG organization (Low Voltage Agreement Group) and by the Sweedish certification body SEMKO belonging to the international IECEE organization.

The ABB Quality System also conforms to the following Standards:
    - ISO 9001 international Standards;
    - EN ISO 9001 (equivalent) European Standards;
    - UNI EN ISO 9001 (equivalent) Italian Standards.

The SACE FORMULA moulded-case circuit-breakers have been designed, developed and produced in accordance with the International Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) system, demonstrating ABB’s commitment to reduce the ecological footprint of its product at every stage of its lifecycle, from production to disposal.

“The launch of SACE FORMULA is a major step forward for us. I’m confident that the right balance of versatility, quality and cost effectiveness afforded by the SACE FORMULA range will have a profound impact on the local market in the years ahead,” he concluded.
