Jan 15 - Thanks to the generous contribution by ABB employees in Malaysia, 100 underprivileged children received brand new school bags, uniforms and shoes for the new academic year which began recently.
Their young faces were filled with joy as the children received their back-to-school packs from Han Yu, ABB Malaysia Country HR Manager. Under the watchful eyes of their teachers, the children exchanged excited whispers while they happily unwrapped the packs to look at the crisp new uniform, shoes and schoolbag.
Speaking at an event to handover the contribution, Nirmala Devi, ABB Malaysia Country Communications Manager said, “We believe that every child, regardless of their social or economic background, deserves to have the best possible education, one that instills the values of our community, the ongoing thirst for knowledge and most importantly, prepares them for future challenges”.
“By lending a hand to underprivileged children, we hope to encourage them to excel academically, and to become responsible members in our society when they grow up. It means giving them limitless opportunities to thrive in order to reach their fullest potential,” she added.
Cash contribution by ABB employees in Malaysia were matched by the company to purchase school bags, uniforms and shoes for poor or orphaned children from three schools namely SK Seafield 3, SK USJ 2 and SMK USJ 8.
“We would like to extend our since gratitude and appreciation to those who have contributed so generously towards this cause. This is the second consecutive year that our students have received this back-to-school pack at the start of a new academic year. The contribution goes a long way towards alleviating the financial burden of needy families who are already struggling to make ends meet each month,” said Puan Mariyamah Binti Ali Osman, Principal of SMK USJ 8.
“For the children, the gift of a new school bag, uniform and shoes helps in so many ways. It’s an instant boost to their self confidence and a reason to look forward to school. Thank you once again for this meaningful contribution,” she concluded.
